Desirée Barreto
Desirée is a Dubai-based designer and strategist by trade, multimedia artist and writer in the hidden economy. Their work often employs satirical and experimental methods of ethnography and atypical subjects to create zeitgeist-critical and -celebratory work, challenging traditional knowledge systems. She is also the founder of PIQUANT, a nascent diaspora-centric platform rejecting the low-hanging fruit of food culture media in the MENA region. Her curatorial contributions have been featured in GQ ME, Dazed MENA, and Hypebeast Arabia.
