Short and sweet words to live by.

You Are What You Think

By Walt Hurd
Published

The below was submitted in our pitch inbox by the 89-year-old writer and painter Walt Hurd. These were the only words in the pitch.

KIDS, listen closely.

You are what you think.

Your brain listens to your thoughts-and it believes you.

If you think negatively about yourself, your brain agrees. It sends signals that affect your whole body, especially your gut, which has brain-like sensors. You can feel sick, anxious, even depressed. And yes, those thoughts can lead to real medical symptoms.

But here's the truth:

YOU ARE IN CONTROL.

Think positively, and your immune system responds. Your body heals. Your energy rises.

Your mind clears.

This isn't just feel-good talk. It's science. It's real life.

You thoughts shape your reality.

So choose wisely.

Everybody knows this.

Now it's up to you.
