Before The Hatching

My photography is rooted in storytelling and connection—to place, to people, to what can’t quite be named. I’m drawn to environments that carry layers: histories etched into the land, memories held in textures, spaces caught in quiet transition. I let the light guide me, pausing where something shifts internally.


I aim to make images that feel honest, tender, and alive, where you can almost feel the air in the frame, the breath of something becoming.


This series documents an old pine plantation high in the mountains outside São Paulo, a place I’ve been returning to with a group of friends. Together, we are slowly shaping it into a creative sanctuary. The vision includes cottages and studios, a ceramics and carpentry workshop, a recording studio, a community kitchen, a pool—all held within a larger effort to restore the native forest. It’s a residency, yes, but more than that. It’s a home. It is a project dedicated to regeneration, collaboration, and presence.


Seeing this land through the camera has changed me. To build it is one thing; to photograph it is another entirely. I started noticing what was already there: how fog clings to the valley, how human traces begin to tell new stories, how trees catch and hold the light. The camera has taught me to listen.


At the heart of the land is an egg structure we chose intentionally, a vessel and a promise. An egg holds life before it begins. A form that protects what is still forming. We’ve nurtured this space for over three years, slowly and quietly, like something waiting to hatch. When it does, it won’t emerge in force, but in fullness.


This work is a gesture toward that future: slower, more connected, rooted in care. A place, and a way, to begin again.
